The Vancouver International Film Festival comes to a close for us for another year but not without a few absolute certifiable hits dazzle us on the big screen.
Day 6:
Man In Motion: The Rick Hansen Story – The inspirational story of Rick Hansen and his global Man In Motion tour that ended here in Vancouver in 1987.
Fatherland – Cold War director Paweł Pawlikowski follows up that masterpiece with a stunning familial drama with the great Sandra Hüller.
Behemoth! – Tony Gilroy writes and directs this drama with a comedy edge about a virtuoso cellist (Pedro Pascal) and his complicated life in the orchestra.
Day 7:
Bitter Christmas – Almodóvar gets deep into scriptwriting with this drama-comedy about an autofiction script written by a desperate writer about his long-suffering friend. Lots of reds!
Fjord – The Palme d’Or winner at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, starring Sebastian Stan and Renate Rensve, and one certain to cause a lot of conversation. The less said, the better!
Day 8:
Look Back – Hirokazu Koreeda’s beautiful true story portrait of two young girls who find connection in creating manga together.
Chloe and I finish up by giving our final thoughts on the festival as well as our top three!
