Breaking down all things pop culture

The journey continues with day 2 and 3 of the Vancouver International Film Festival in it’s 45th year and this includes a visit to The Park Theatre for the first time on our festival trek.

Day 2 is:

Yellow Letters – Germany plays Turkey in this familial drama from the director of festival favorite, The Teacher’s Lounge.

Whatcha Want – Vancouver filmmaker Mina Shum returns with this comedy drama about a trapped Chinese trad wife.

The Debut – Jesse Eisenberg follows up A Real Pain with this sometimes absurd comedy that might net Julianne Moore another Oscar.

Day 3 is:

Frank And Louis – A prison drama featuring affecting performances from Kingsley Ben-Adir and Rob Morgan.

Trial Of Hein – Part of the Focus on New German Cinema: Extreme Tension section, a minimalist thriller about identity.

Minotaur – A loose remake of Claude Chabrol’s 1969 film The Unfaithful Wife from the writer/director of Leviathan and Loveless.

I Play Rocky – Oscar-winning director Peter Farrelly tells the story of the ultimate underdog with the creation of Sly Stallone’s iconic Philadelphia boxer.
